Okay okay so I was quite at ease when getting my belly pierced. I would also say getting my second ear piercing hurt more, especially since my piercer got the gun stuck in my ear and had to shake it out. But the belly piercing has the same pain level as getting a shot or blood drawn… maybe a 4 out of 10 pain level, as it just feels like a pinch.I went to a shop really close to my home and the place had really good reviews. When I got seated, I was surprised at how clean everything was. I was walked through the whole procedure and felt really calm throughout the whole thing. Then the needle goes through, and the jewelry. But it does hurt to stand and sit a few days after since your skin is stretching out from the piercing.I also recommend taking really good care after and cleaning it twice to three times a day. Okay so my belly was my first body piercing besides my ears. I went to the same place I get my tattoos, and it was also where my boyfriend got his ears pierced. The clamp, and the piercing itself did not hurt.Putting the jewelry in hurt badly because I am a small girl and the skin on my stomach is pretty tight, and my piercer said it was hard to get the jewelry piece through, so I actually felt a lot of pain throughout my whole stomach. If someone were to ask me if the pain was worth it getting it pierced, I would tell them no. But I do I love my belly ring? I had surgery done on my stomach so the area my belly piercing sits in is completely numb so I had zero pain lol.My belly piercing is my favorite one and even tho I dont show it off much it makes me feel really good. Besides the stories above… try pinching your belly button between your fingernails. I have both my ears pierced 3 times each and I totally love it. Close menu. Belly Ring Monthly Club. When compared to other piercings, belly button piercings are generally low on the pain scale and can be compared to ear lobe piercings when trying to imagine how much one might hurt. While you should expect at least a little sharp pain and pinching, the procedure will be over very quickly. It might feel like a bee sting or getting an immunization while it happens. Over the following few days, there will also be some soreness. Your piercer will prep your belly by sterilizing it with disinfectant. A super sharp needle will be much more gentle on the surrounding tissue of your belly than a piercing gun will.If you get squeamish about that kind of thing, look away and keep your mind on something else. Your piercer should skillfully get the needle through your skin in seconds. You should follow those closely so you can have an infection-free recovery. While the initial needle pain will be over in mere seconds, your discomfort will last a little longer than that.It will feel sore for a while afterward. That soreness may vary from a couple of days to a week, depending upon what your pain tolerance is and how strictly you stick to your aftercare instructions. As well as this, rejected belly button piercings are also a possibility , and these can cause lingering pain, too. For a little more flair, check out dangle belly rings. A dangle belly ring will feature a charm dangling from the bottom of the ring, offering a cute look right below the belly button.Dangle belly rings look extra adorable with bikinis or other outfits that show off your body. Reverse dangle belly rings feature charms that dangle from the top of the jewelry rather than the bottom. The jewelry will cascade in front of the belly button. The reverse dangle belly ring style is perfect for those who love extravagant jewelry options and want their belly jewelry to take center stage. Some people might not be able to get a belly piercing, based on their anatomy. A belly piercing takes some time to heal. In the springtime, you might be tempted to get your navel pierced because summer is coming, and you know it will look super cute with your new swimsuit. That way, you can have plenty of time to heal before you reveal your piercing over the summer.Be wary; a navel piercing can sometimes take up to a year to heal, so be sure to talk to your piercer before hopping into the pool.Besides the fact that a healing piercing needs a strong immune system, your changing belly size will affect your new piercing , which could cause complications. As with any piercing, opt for experience over price. Never choose a piercer who uses a piercing gun.You might think that the belly button piercing is pretty straightforward, but there are variations to this popular piercing. The bottom belly button piercing pierces the skin below the belly button, rather than above. This piercing is great for those who would prefer jewelry that hangs lower than the standard belly piercing. The double belly button piercing allows for a bit of variety. Essentially, it consists of an additional piercing either above, below, or to the side of your belly button piercing. Vertical double piercings seem to be the most popular. They had good references on Yelp, so I thought how bad can it be? The man who did the piercing was a bit of a brute with no bedside manner at all. Then he nonchalantly told me to go home, rinse it with saltwater, and not wear tight clothing. The first night was awful. I like to sleep on my stomach, but that was out. The elastic pajama pants I was wearing kept hitting the captive bead ring and waking me up. I finally took them off so I could get some sleep. The next morning my navel was still puffy and red. I had a horrible problem with belly button piercing migration. My navel was constantly itching and oozing, it looked absolutely horrible. It was during this awful piercing experience that I started designing the TummyToys belly ring clasp.
